General Background
Protron sources most of their LCD panels from LG-Phillips.

Pros:
- Most buyers appear to like the picture quality. Some say its up there with the Sony and Panasonic LCDs.
- With an HD source, such as an HD DVD, the picture quality goes up dramatically.
- Good features for the price.

Cons- If it goes wrong and you have to send it back (which is the case for models 32 inches and smaller) their customer service is BAD.
- Doesn’t have coverage of major brands.

Can be found at outlets such as Amazon, Etronics, Shopnbc.com

This TV is a piece of Shit. I have the 32′ LCD, it is one year old, and the power button on the top of the tv does not work, also today I had the pleasure of trying to turn the tv on. I hit the power button on the remote, and it just stays on the red light, and will not turn on. $1,000, for a piece of shit.

    Thanks for the feedback John.
This is a great example for readers of the choice between a value brand vs an established brand.
Even though many of the LCD panels come from the same factory (e.g. Samsung), the ancillaries and software are not the same. So if you’ve ever wondered how you can justify the price difference between say a Sony, Panasonic or Samsung LCD TV and a value brand here’s an example of how annoying lower quality can be.

John, I hope you get a reasonable resolution to your problem with your LCD TV. I think we’d like to hear how you go.
