I bought an iLo TV from Walmart for $999 in October. 2 weeks ago it turned itself off and haven't been able to get it to power on again. Called Funai Corp (who are the Customer Support for this product) and they advised they have no authorized repair in BC.

I can't locate my receipt and the local TV repair shop can figure out where the power supply came from as the TV itself is a potpourie of other manufacturer parts

Ideas on how to get it repaired?

I bought a 42" ilo from wal-mart and it started turning itself off, still under warrenty but having problems with tech support not replying to repair service.

>> There have been a few people reporting problems with their iLO TVs in this blog. On the surface it looks iLO have a dispropotinate number of problems relative to their sales volumes, but it's a small sample so its hard to know if this is a true picture of the situation.

iLO TVs are sourced from a variety of different suppliers, so I suspect service will be less consistent than with a name brand TV.

We just purchased the iLo CIWP4206 42" plasma tv from walmart for $1099.00 (Canadian) - it was an awesome deal and the picture quality is far better than the LCD's we were looking at. We had shopped around for at least 6 months before making our purchase and are quite pleased with it.

Well done Cathy - that sounds like a great deal. In general plasmas appear to be better buying at the moment. I think some people think they're not as modern as LCD. However, as you spotted quite often the picture of plasma TVs is better than LCD TVs

I would like to purchase a flat panel for my parents for Christmas. Walmart is advertising the ILO CIWP4206 42" Plasma for $1364.42. Seems like a great price but they won't set one up so I can look at it. I am concerned about the quality of the picture, the speed (refresh rate), and if it has the new technology preventing 'burn in'. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
I am currently running the Pioneer 4340 and just love it.
Thanks in advance,
Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

If they wouldn't let me see the TV I wouldn't buy it. Regrading the ILO CIWP4206 42″ Plasma you had seen at Walmart for $1364.42, I googled ILO CIWP4206 and nothing came up. Then I went to the Walmart online store to look for 42 inch Plasma TVs.

This page came up <a href="http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=3944&search_query=plasma+tv&ic=24_0&Continue.x=13&Continue.y=8">Walmart 42 inch Plasma TVs</a>

What caught my eye was the Panasonic 42" Widescreen Plasma HDTV w/ Built-In Digital Tuner, TH-42PX6U for $1294 at <a href="http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5131708">Panasonic 42" Widescreen Plasma HDTV </a>

There was also an Hitachi 42" Widescreen HD-Ready Plasma HDTV, 42HDM12A also for $1294 at <a href="http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5291737">Hitachi 42" Widescreen HD-Ready Plasma HDTV</a>

My suggestion is go for a recognised brand if it is similar in price. I think the quality and long term support is likely to be better. Also Panasonic have decided to focus on Plasma TVs and they intend to keep them competitive with LCD TVs.

Remember that the pictures on TVs do look different, its a question of which you like best and that prices are coming down so time is on you rside - there's no rush.

I just bought an ILO 26"LCD HDTV and neither my husband or I can figure out how to program the remote to our RCA directv box. We have an old TV code list to reset or program the remote but this TV is not listed in it. I checked and found that it is a Walmart private brand! Any suggestions?

Hi Cindy,
Sorry, I don't have good news for you.

I had a similar experience with a a Samsung DVD / VCR combo I bought. My universal remote control, which was supposed to have the codes for every electronic gadget ever created by human and alien civilisations, didn't have the codes to operate it.
I couldn't find a code on their website either.

Personally I believe this sort of thing is an alien conspiracy. They used to cruise around in their flying saucers trying to scare us, but everybody sort of got bored with that. So next they figured that a secret regime of non-compatible and annoying consumer goods would eventually drive everybody crazy and they could take over the world easily.

Hence the non-transferable, low quality tracks you get from iTunes, Blue screens of death in Windows, Microsoft bloatware in general, the HD-DVD vs Blu-ray fiasco, your remote control - the evidence is everywhere.

Clearly they first landed in Seattle some years ago, set up their base in Microsoft HQ and set about their task with earnest. They also used their trans-dimensional vector rays to make all the WMD in Iraq vanish. Every lampost in Baghdad used to be a disguised inter-continental ballistic missile. That's why George Bush has looked so confused the last few years. When the troops got to Baghdad, the missiles had all been turned back into lamposts. Dang it!

Sorry I don't have better news for you. :-)

I ujust bought an Ilo 26 hd lcd tv.Do you happen to know how to adjust the tv on the stand? Its leaning back to far and I want to it to stand straight up.I looked through the instruction manual but cant find nothing.

Editor's Response:
Hi there. Most TVs that have a tilt control mechanism use a friction-locking system built into the stand mount. Basically if you put your hand on the top of the screen and try to move it backeards or forwards it should tilt.

If it doesn't move, either the friction locking mount has locked up or there isn't one! Take a closer look at the stand where it joins the back of the LCD panel and se eif you can see any screws or nuts that you can loosen off. If you can't see anything it probably means the TV isn't tilt adjustable.

I got a ilo-26hd tv & I would like to know how to delete the channels that are not coming in.

<strong>Editor's comment:</strong>
Thanks for your question Louis.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Is it you are receiving too many channels or too few?
Anyway, I went to the support area of the Walmart website at http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=5436 but I couldn't see anything to do with users guide or support for ilo TVs.
A google on "ilo-26 hdtv users guide" didn't turn up an user guide either, so I'm sorry but I can't answer your question.
